Is MyFans Safe and Legit? What Overseas Fans Should Know
MyFans is a Japanese platform with published rules for creators, performers and payments. Here is what it checks, what it requires, and what is still up to you.
Creators are identity- and age-checked
To post or earn money on MyFans, a creator must register and pass identity and age verification. Creators submit their name, address and date of birth, matching an official ID document.
MyFans may ask 18-year-old creators for extra proof, such as a graduation certificate, because 18-year-olds still in high school aren’t allowed.
Co-performers must consent
If anyone other than the creator appears in a post — a partner, spouse or friend — MyFans requires the creator to complete a contract that complies with Japan’s AV Act and to have the co-performer’s consent to filming and publication before posting.
Child sexual abuse material, rights violations and illegal content are prohibited.
Content is censored under Japanese law
Japanese law requires adult content to be mosaicked, and MyFans enforces it: weak or missing mosaics lead to removal and penalties. If you expect uncensored content, MyFans is not that platform.
Your account and payments
Fans must verify a phone number (by SMS or voice call) before paying, which MyFans describes as a security measure. A non-Japanese mobile number works.
Card payments are taken in yen, and MyFans’ purchase history shows only the last four digits of the card used.
Repeated failed logins lock an account for several days, which protects against password guessing — so use a password manager rather than guessing.
Sensible precautions
Bookmark myfans.jp and sign in only there. Links in DMs and comments elsewhere can lead to look-alike sites.
Before you subscribe, read the plan description, check which posts it unlocks and note the renewal date.
Never pay a creator or “agent” outside MyFans. Off-platform payments have none of MyFans’ protections or refund rules.
Creators to start with
≈ amounts are a rough guide in USD using the Thu, 08 Oct 2026 rate from Rates By Exchange Rate API. MyFans charges in yen, adds a purchase fee at checkout, and your card company sets the final exchange rate and any overseas fee.
