Can You Use MyFans Outside Japan? Yes — Here’s How

Updated 8 October 2026 · Based on MyFans’ official help centre

Yes. MyFans states that foreign users can register and use the service from overseas when paying by credit card. Here is what you need and the few things that commonly go wrong.

What you need: to be 18 or older, an email address, a mobile number that can receive an SMS or voice call for verification, and a credit or debit card. MyFans won’t let you pay until your phone number is verified.

Step by step

  1. Create an accountSign up on myfans.jp with your email address.
  2. Switch the languageOpen the language settings (言語設定) to change the interface language. MyFans warns that browser auto-translation can break buttons and layout, so prefer the built-in setting.
  3. Verify your phone numberMyFans requires phone verification (電話番号認証) before any payment, plus your name and phone number at checkout. You get a 6-digit code by SMS (SMSで取得) or automated voice call (音声通話で取得). Numbers starting with 050 are not accepted, and one number can verify only one account. Non-Japanese mobile numbers work too.
  4. Add a cardVisa, Mastercard and JCB are accepted. Debit and prepaid cards may work, but your issuer can still decline the charge.
  5. Subscribe to the plan you wantPick the specific plan that includes the posts you want. Prices are in yen.

If your card is declined

MyFans’ payment processor can refuse certain cards, even ones that work elsewhere. If yours fails, try another card, or check with your bank that online and international payments are switched on.

Your card company sets the exchange rate and may add an overseas fee. Check with your bank if you want the exact amount.

Phone verification from abroad

Your own mobile number works — you don’t need a Japanese number to verify and pay by card. Enter a number that can receive SMS (or a voice call) and type in the 6-digit code.

Each number can verify only one MyFans account. If the verification screen shows an error, turn off Google Translate or any other browser translation and try again; MyFans says external translation can cause this error.

Language and subtitles

Switching the MyFans interface to English does not translate creators’ posts. Whether a creator writes captions in English, or adds subtitles to videos, varies by creator.

Quick answers

Do I need a Japanese phone number?

No. Every account must verify a phone number before paying, but a non-Japanese mobile number works for card payment. Only Paidy, atone and deferred convenience-store/ATM payment need a Japanese number.

My verification email never arrived

Check the address for typos (including upper/lower case), look in spam and allow the myfans.jp domain. MyFans says Hotmail and Outlook often block the message and recommends Gmail.

Will I be charged in my own currency?

Prices are listed in yen. Your card company converts the charge at its own rate and may add an overseas fee.
