CandFans Outside Japan: English and Payment Guide

CandFans is a fan-subscription platform used by Japanese idols, models, gravure models, YouTubers and other creators. Its help centre answers fewer overseas questions than MyFans’ or FANBOX’s, so this guide is short and sticks to what CandFans itself publishes (checked 10 October 2026).

Who runs it, and the age rule

CandFans’ terms say the service is operated by Street X Inc, registered in Delaware, USA, and in Japan by Adolescence Corporation (Shinjuku, Tokyo). Payments may be taken by a UK payment agent, and the terms say UK customers are governed by UK law and customers in the Asia-Pacific region by Japanese law.

Anyone under 18 is barred. CandFans’ age-and-identity policy adds that, depending on the country, fans may have to provide identifying information or documents to view content.

English and signing up

CandFans supports seven languages: Japanese, English, Korean, Chinese (simplified and traditional), Hindi, Thai and Vietnamese. Change it under My page → Settings → Language, or with 🌐 Language at the bottom of the side menu. Many help articles carry an English version under the Japanese.

Sign up from the top page of candfans.jp with an email address, then follow the link in the confirmation email. CandFans’ help also describes a phone verification step in which you call a number starting 050 from your registered phone with caller ID shown. It doesn’t say whether non-Japanese numbers work, so we can’t either.

There’s no app; CandFans suggests adding candfans.jp to your home screen.

Paying from abroad

CandFans adds a platform fee of 18% at checkout, which it says varies by card brand. In 2023 it announced it had moved to settling payments in US dollars to make paying easier for overseas users, while users in Japan still see amounts in yen.

If a card payment fails, CandFans suggests checking the details and limit, asking your card company whether online or foreign transactions are blocked, and deleting and re-adding the card. The name on your statement is given in the confirmation email from noreply@candfans.jp; the terms say payments through its UK agent show as “CANDFANS”.

Plans, renewal and refunds

Monthly plans renew automatically on the same date next month, Japan time (earlier in months that are too short, such as February). To stop, cancel by the day before. Cancelling locks the plan’s posts immediately, and there’s no proration or refund. CandFans’ older English cancellation text mentions renewal on the 1st; its current articles, edited in September 2026, say the same date as you joined, which we follow.

If a renewal fails, for example because a prepaid balance ran out, the plan isn’t renewed and you rejoin yourself; CandFans says your history carries over. A single item you buy stays viewable permanently, even if the creator deletes the post, but deleting your own account removes access.

CandFans says it doesn’t refund purchases for buyer-side reasons such as content not matching your expectations, and warns that bad-faith chargebacks may lead to legal action. Its content rules also require mosaics on explicit content.

How MyFans differs

MyFans also takes Visa, Mastercard and JCB and renews plans on the date you joined, so the basics will feel similar. The differences are in the details: MyFans charges in yen with a purchase fee it doesn’t publish as a percentage, and offers BitCash as a non-card option.
