MyFans Card Declined? Fixes for Overseas Fans
A declined card is the most common payment problem for overseas fans. Most cases come down to three things: phone verification, the browser you are using, or the card itself. Work through them in this order.
Step by step
- Verify your phone number firstMyFans won’t take any payment until your phone number is verified (電話番号認証). A non-Japanese mobile number works, as long as it can receive an SMS or a voice call.
- Enter your name and phone number at checkoutMyFans requires both before it will process a payment.
- Turn off browser translationMyFans warns that browser page translation, such as Google Translate, can cause errors. Use its built-in language setting (言語設定) instead.
- Use an up-to-date browserMyFans recommends the latest Safari or Chrome (or Edge on Windows). If you opened MyFans from inside X, Instagram or LINE, open it in Safari or Chrome instead.
- Check the card typeOnly Visa, Mastercard and JCB cards are listed. Credit, debit and prepaid cards can all be used, but MyFans notes that some cards are still refused.
- Try another cardIf MyFans says no usable card is registered, the processor has refused that card. Add a different one.
Why payments fail
MyFans’ help centre describes a common case: the card works in shops and on other websites, and may even have worked on MyFans before, but now MyFans shows “ご利用可能なカードが登録されていません” (no usable card is registered). MyFans says its payment processor may refuse certain cards, and the only fix it offers is to pay another way.
MyFans has no say in which card companies’ cards work, so its support team can’t tell you why a particular card was refused.
Payment can also fail before the card is even charged: if your phone number isn’t verified, if your name and phone number are missing at checkout, or if browser translation or an outdated browser breaks the page.
Paidy, atone and deferred payment at a convenience store or ATM need a Japanese mobile number that can receive SMS, so overseas fans will normally pay by card. See our payment methods guide for the full list.
When a renewal payment fails: the 14-day rule
If your card stops working before a plan renews, the renewal fails and MyFans emails you “【プランの更新に失敗しました】” (your plan renewal failed).
For card payments on plans (including bundles), the plan then shows “決済失敗中” (payment failed). While it does, you can’t see that plan’s paid posts, though sample videos still play.
You have 14 days from the failed payment to fix it. Go to Account → Purchased/Saved (購入・保存) → Library (ライブラリ) → Subscribed plans (加入中のプラン), choose “今すぐ決済情報を更新” (update payment details now), then “決済方法を更新する”, add a working payment method and tap “お支払いを完了する” (complete payment). You can also use the “決済を更新して視聴する” button on a locked post.
If you don’t pay again within 14 days, the plan is cancelled automatically. This 14-day option doesn’t apply to Paidy, atone or BitCash.
At renewal MyFans normally charges the card you joined with, not your default card. If you deleted that card, it may use your default card instead.
What to check with your bank
MyFans charges in Japanese yen. Your card company converts the amount at its own exchange rate and may add an overseas transaction fee; MyFans tells you to ask your card company for the details.
When the charge appears on your statement also depends on your card company, not on MyFans.
If the card works elsewhere but MyFans still refuses it, ask your bank whether it blocked the payment. If the bank didn’t block it, MyFans’ processor has refused the card and you’ll need another card.
Before you dispute a charge you don’t recognise, check your MyFans purchase history first. MyFans says it may suspend an account if the card company reports a fraudulent payment, or if you tell your card company a charge wasn’t yours.

Quick answers
My card works everywhere else. Why does MyFans refuse it?
MyFans’ payment processor decides which cards it accepts, and MyFans can’t give details. The help centre’s advice is to use a different payment method — for overseas fans, usually another Visa, Mastercard or JCB card.
Why didn’t I get the first-month discount?
MyFans says card payments don’t get the first-month discount on plans above a certain price, and some payment methods can’t use campaign discounts. Check the confirmation screen before you pay. A discount also doesn’t apply if you have joined that plan before.
Will I lose my subscription if a renewal fails?
Not straight away. For card payments you have 14 days to update your payment method and pay again; after that the plan is cancelled.
