Short answer
Japanese amateur creators are some of the most searched-for creators anywhere, and free tube sites are full of “Japanese amateur” clips. But almost none of those clips were posted by the people in them. If you like someone’s work, there’s a better way to watch that gets you the real thing and actually supports them. Here’s why it matters, and how to do it from outside Japan.
What “amateur” means here
Shirōto (素人) is the Japanese word for an amateur: someone who doesn’t do something professionally. On MyFans it usually marks a creator who films and runs their own page, with no studio and no agency. You’ll also see it in combinations such as 素人カップル (amateur couple).
It’s a self-description, not a certificate, so some “amateur” channels are very polished. Our guide to what 素人 means goes into the word and where it comes from.
Why re-uploads hurt the creators you like
Re-upload sites feel free, but someone pays. Clips there are usually posted without the creator’s permission and cut down, and the creator earns nothing from them. For a self-run amateur, subscriptions are the whole business: every fan who watches a stolen copy instead of the real page is support that never reaches them.
They’re also a gamble for you. Treat “leaked” or “uncensored” copies of a Japanese creator’s posts as a red flag: they can be fake or carry malware. And because Japanese platforms require mosaics, a clip claiming to be an “uncensored” original from a Japanese fan site should make you more suspicious, not less. Our censorship guide explains why.
What you get on the creator’s own page
| Creator’s own MyFans page | Re-upload site | |
|---|---|---|
| Who posted it | The creator | Usually someone else, without permission |
| Does the creator get paid? | Yes: you pay for their plan or post | No |
| Quality and completeness | The full-quality originals | Often cut down |
| Checks behind it | Creators pass identity and age checks; anyone else in a post must have signed a contract and consented | Unknown |
| If the post is later deleted | A single post you bought stays in your Purchased library | Nothing to keep |
| Talking to the creator | Tips, super comments and messages go straight to them | Not possible |
You don’t always have to pay to look around, either. On MyFans, posts that aren’t tied to a plan or a price are free for every user, so you can get a feel for a creator before you join anything.
How to find Japanese amateur creators
The easiest start is our list of Japanese amateur creators you can watch legally, or the full Amateur genre page. Every creator we list has agreed to be featured, and each profile links to their own MyFans page.
Searching MyFans itself? Use the Japanese word: 素人 matches far more pages than “amateur”. Following a creator you found on X (Twitter)? Look for a myfans.jp link or the word マイファンズ on their profile, and check the domain before you sign in or pay: MyFans’ terms define its website as myfans.jp. Browse every creator if you’d like to see all genres.
Joining from outside Japan
MyFans says foreign users can register. You’ll need to be 18 or over, an email address, a mobile number that can receive an SMS or voice call (your own non-Japanese number works; only numbers starting with 050 are excluded), and a Visa, Mastercard or JCB card. Prices are in yen and your card company converts them.
Our start here page is the six-step short version, and using MyFans outside Japan is the full walkthrough, with notes for the US, UK, Canada and Australia.
One thing only you can check: whether adult content is legal for you depends on where you live. MyFans operates in Japan under Japanese law, and you must be 18 or over to use it.
