myfans vs Fantia: what's different for fans outside Japan
myfans and Fantia are two Japanese fan-club platforms. Both sell monthly plans in yen, but they differ on the cards they accept, the fees they add and what happens to your access when you cancel. Everything below comes from each platform's own help pages and terms, checked on 26 October 2026.

Paying from outside Japan
If your card is Visa or Mastercard, myfans is the one that lists them. Fantia currently takes only JCB and American Express cards, after pausing Visa and Mastercard in May 2024 (it hasn't announced a restart). Fantia also sells Tora Coin, which can be topped up through several Japanese payment services. On myfans, pay-later options need a Japanese phone number, and myfans doesn't say whether cards issued outside Japan are accepted — try your card, and if it's declined, a different card is the usual fix.
Fees
Fantia states its fee plainly: 8% on live-action plans and on items. myfans says a purchase fee is added but doesn't publish the amount, so check the total on the checkout screen. On either site, a foreign card may also be charged an overseas transaction fee by your card company.
Cancelling and what you keep
Neither site refunds part of a month. The big difference is back issues. On myfans, back posts come with the plan and disappear when you cancel; myfans bundle plans cancelled on or after 14 Nov 2025, 19:10 JST stay open until the end of the paid term (check your cancellation screen). On Fantia, you buy back issues one month at a time and keep them after you leave the plan.
Which one should I use?
You usually don't choose — the creator does. Most creators pick one platform, so follow the creator you like. myfans lists Visa and Mastercard, and both platforms list JCB. Fantia also lists American Express; myfans does not list it.

Can I use Visa on Fantia?
Not at the moment. Fantia paused Visa and Mastercard on 21 May 2024 and hasn't announced a restart. It accepts JCB and American Express cards.

myfans requires phone verification before you pay and doesn't say whether overseas numbers work. Fantia's help pages don't list phone verification as a requirement for buying.
Do I keep posts after cancelling?
On myfans, plan posts stop being viewable the day you cancel (bundle plans cancelled after 14 Nov 2025, 19:10 JST stay open to the end of the term). On Fantia, back issues you bought stay viewable after you leave.
