Join MyFans from the US, UK, Canada or Australia

Updated 8 October 2026 · Based on MyFans’ official help centre

MyFans officially welcomes overseas users who pay by card, and joining works the same way whether you live in the US, UK, Canada or Australia. What changes is how your bank converts yen, which card you use and how renewal dates fit your calendar. For the full sign-up walkthrough, see our step-by-step guide to using MyFans outside Japan.

You need to be 18 or over and not in high school, have an email address, a mobile number that can receive an SMS or voice call (your own US, UK, Canadian or Australian number works), and a Visa, Mastercard or JCB card. Everything is priced in Japanese yen.

Paying in yen from dollars or pounds

Every price on MyFans is in Japanese yen. Whether your card is in US dollars, pounds, Canadian dollars or Australian dollars, your card company converts the charge at its own exchange rate. MyFans doesn’t guarantee or quote exchange rates.

Your card company may also add an overseas transaction fee. MyFans tells you to check this with your card company, so look up your card’s foreign transaction fee before you subscribe.

MyFans adds a purchase fee at checkout, and joining is free — you only pay for what you buy. For typical prices and rough conversions, see how much MyFans costs.

Which card to use

MyFans lists Visa, Mastercard and JCB. Other card networks aren’t listed. Credit, debit and prepaid cards can all work, but MyFans’ payment processor may still refuse a particular card.

Paidy, atone and deferred convenience-store or ATM payment need a Japanese mobile number, so they aren’t an option with a number from your home country.

If your card is refused, our card declined guide walks through the fixes.

Your phone number

You must verify a phone number before you can pay, and enter your name and phone number at checkout. A US, UK, Canadian or Australian mobile number works.

You choose between a 6-digit code by SMS (SMSで取得) or an automated voice call (音声通話で取得). One number can verify only one MyFans account.

If the code doesn’t arrive, MyFans suggests checking the number you typed, that your plan can receive SMS, and that you aren’t blocking texts from unknown numbers. If you see an error, switch off browser translation and try again.

Renewal dates and your time zone

A plan renews automatically on the same date the following month — join on the 15th, and it renews on the 15th. If that date doesn’t exist (for example the 31st), renewal moves to the last day of the month.

MyFans doesn’t say which time zone renewal dates follow. Check the exact next renewal date under Account → Purchased/Saved (購入・保存) → Library (ライブラリ) → Subscribed plans (加入中のプラン).

MyFans asks you to cancel by the day before the renewal date, and doesn’t refund problems caused by cancelling on the renewal day itself. Wherever you live, cancelling a full day or more early is the safe choice.

Quick answers

Do I need a Japanese phone number or address?

No Japanese phone number is needed to pay by card — your own mobile number works. MyFans asks for your name and phone number at checkout; its help centre doesn’t mention needing a Japanese address.

When will the charge show up on my statement?

MyFans charges you when you join and at each renewal. When it appears on your statement depends on your card company.

Can I switch MyFans to English?

Yes. Use MyFans’ own language setting (言語設定). MyFans warns that browser page translation can break parts of the site.
