myfans Sample Videos: What You Can Watch Before Joining a Plan
Short answer
A guide to myfans video samples, based on the Japanese help centre articles checked on 2 November 2026.
Who sees a sample, and who does not
The official user-side article states the rule in one sentence: for video posts, users who have not joined the plan are shown the sample video, and the main video can be viewed after joining the plan. The creator-side article puts the same rule from the other side: a sample is displayed to users who cannot yet view the post, so that they can check what the post contains, and after a user becomes able to view the post, the sample is no longer displayed.
Two boundaries follow. First, the sample is addressed to people outside the plan. If you are already a member, or you have bought the post as a single item, you are not the audience for it, and its absence from your view is the system working as described, not content being removed. Second, the creator-side article notes an exception that cuts the other way: a sample set on a free post is not displayed to users. A free post is already viewable, so a preview has no function there.
What happens after you join or buy
The user-side article states it directly: after purchase, the sample video is not displayed. In its place you get the main video. This matters because of a confusion the same article anticipates. If the sample was cut from the main video, the cut portion remains part of the main video: the official wording is that when a sample is set as a cut-out of the main video, that part is included when the main video plays, even after you have joined the plan or bought the post. You have not lost the scene you previewed; it is inside the full video, in its original position.
The reverse case is the one to check before paying. A sample does not have to be a cut. The creator-side article describes two ways of setting one: cutting a section from the main video, or setting a separate video as the sample. A separate sample can therefore show material that is not a section of the main video at all. The official text does not say that the two must match in content. If what you are buying is one specific scene you saw in a preview, the profile and the post description, not the sample alone, are the record of what the post contains.
How long a sample can be
The creator-side article gives the numbers. A sample cut from the main video can be set at a minimum of 15 seconds and a maximum of five minutes. A separately uploaded sample can be up to five minutes and up to 500MB, and it goes through the same review as the main video, including when it is edited. A main video shorter than 15 seconds cannot have a sample set at all. Creators can also reset a sample later from the post's edit screen, including changing which part of the main video the cut uses, so the preview attached to a post you looked at last month is not guaranteed to be identical today.
These figures describe what a sample is allowed to be, not what any given creator chose. One creator's sample may run close to five minutes; another's may be 20 seconds. The length is the creator's setting within those limits, and the post itself is where you see the result.

What a sample can and cannot tell you
A sample tells you the things a preview can honestly carry: the setting, the format, the production style, and, when it is a cut, a real section of the main video in its actual quality. Used that way, samples are one tool myfans gives you for looking at a post before paying. This site's creator videos are separate promotional previews made from supplied promotional material; they should not be assumed to be the samples attached to myfans posts.
A sample does not tell you how much more the main video contains, how the rest of it is paced, or whether a separately set sample represents the main video's content. It also does not tell you what a plan contains beyond that post: which posts a plan includes is the creator's own arrangement, stated on the profile and the plan description. Read those before joining, and treat the sample as evidence about one post, not about the whole plan.
Checking a creator through samples
Because a sample is required on video posts, a creator's posts give you a consistent way to look before paying: open the profile, and the video posts you cannot yet view are the ones that normally carry samples. Work through more than one. A single sample shows one post; several samples from different months show whether the setting, format and pace you liked are the creator's pattern or a one-off. Note, though, what the check cannot do. A sample can be reset later from the post's edit screen, and a sample set as a separate video passed review as a sample, not as a summary of the main video. If a plan is what you are considering, finish the check on the plan description itself: the sample route tells you about posts, and only the plan's own text, written by the creator, states which posts joining actually opens.

Quick answers
Is every video post previewable?
Not every one. Setting a sample is required for video posts, except all-ages posts, but a main video under 15 seconds cannot have one, and a sample set on a free post is not displayed.
Why did the sample disappear after I joined?
Because that is the stated behaviour: after purchase, the sample is not displayed, and the main video is what you view.
Is the scene in the sample inside the full video?
If the sample was cut from the main video, yes: the official article says the cut part is included in the main video when it plays. If the sample was set as a separate video, the official text does not promise that.
Can a sample be longer than five minutes?
No. Five minutes is the official maximum for both kinds of sample.
Is there an official English article about samples?
No. As of this check, the help centre's articles on the sample feature exist in Japanese only; the article IDs return no English version.
