Short answer
FC2 Content Market (FC2コンテンツマーケット) is FC2’s online marketplace where people sell digital content and buyers pay per item with FC2 points or a card. It is a different kind of service from MyFans, which is built around monthly creator plans. This guide explains how FC2 Content Market works for fans outside Japan, using only FC2’s own help pages.
What FC2 Content Market is
FC2’s help describes Content Market as a service where you buy content other users have made and pay with FC2 points, or sell your own and earn FC2 points when others buy it. It sits alongside FC2’s other services (its blog, video and live services) and runs on the same FC2ID account.
FC2’s manual lists four kinds of product a seller can register: text (article) products, video products, image-page products and download products. Some sellers also set a 30-day unlimited pack (30日間見放題パック): one payment lets you view or download everything that seller offers on Content Market, as often as you like, for 30 days.
FC2 says anyone 18 or over can take part. The site has an adult category alongside its general ones.
Using it from outside Japan
Language. The Content Market site has a Language Settings menu with English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese. FC2’s help and manual pages we checked are in Japanese, and sellers write their own product pages, usually in Japanese.
Account. Registration is free. FC2’s help says to create an FC2ID with the “FC2ID新規登録” (new FC2ID) button, then choose “サービス追加” (add service) in the left menu, pick Content Market from the free services, press “このサービスを追加” (add this service) and agree to the terms.
Buying. Press “買い物かごに追加” (add to cart) on a product, then “決済に進む” (go to payment). Several items in the cart can be paid in one go, and after paying you open the item with “購入後ページへ進む” (go to the purchased page). Past purchases are under 購入履歴 (purchase history).
FC2 points and card payments
| Topic | What FC2 says |
|---|---|
| What you pay with | FC2 points or a credit card |
| FC2 points | 1 point = ¥1; bought with a credit card, e-money or Japanese online banking (Pay-easy) |
| Debit and prepaid cards | Can be used to buy points |
| Currency on a card | Billed in US dollars (FC2, Inc. is a US company); when buying points, FC2 converts yen to dollars or euros at that day’s rate |
| Extra checks | An SMS code or 3-D Secure may be required; each card has daily and monthly limits on the number of payments |
| Statement name | FC2.COM or FC2,INC; product names aren’t shown |
| Refunds on points | Not given once paid; bought points can’t be cashed out |
| 30-day packs | Paid from your FC2 points; you can’t buy one if your balance is too low |
Because cards are charged in dollars, a card issued in the UK, Canada or Australia goes through a currency conversion at your card company’s rate, and FC2 notes some cards add an overseas transaction fee. FC2 suggests buying points in one larger amount if you plan several purchases, as each card can only be used a limited number of times a day and a month.
FC2 doesn’t list which card brands it accepts on the pages we checked, so we’ve left that out. Check the payment screen before you rely on a particular card.
Worth knowing before you buy
Content Market sells items one at a time, or in a seller’s 30-day pack, rather than as a monthly subscription to a creator. Read each product page for what’s included, since sellers write those pages themselves.
The account behind it all is your FC2ID. FC2 points bought there can be spent across FC2’s paid services, and the FC2ID menu (決済/FC2ポイント) is where you buy points and see your transaction details.
How MyFans differs
MyFans (myfans.jp) is a separate Japanese platform, and it works differently. Fans mostly join a creator’s monthly plan, with single posts and messages sold on top, and prices are shown in yen. MyFans lists Visa, Mastercard and JCB cards, plus BitCash and the Japanese pay-later services Paidy and atone; its help says foreign users can register, and your own mobile number works for phone verification.
MyFans requires creators to mosaic explicit areas under its rules. Our MyFans outside Japan guide covers sign-up step by step, MyFans payment methods covers cards and BitCash, and MyFans vs Fantia vs Fanbox compares other Japanese fan sites.
Everyone listed on JapanCreatorFind is a Japan-based MyFans creator who has agreed to be featured. Browse creators with English profiles and plan prices in yen.
