myfans vs CandFans: what differs for fans

myfans and CandFans look similar: Japanese creators, monthly plans, single items. For a fan paying from abroad, the differences are in the official rules — what is added on top of the plan price, whether your debit card works for a subscription, and what shows on your statement. This page compares only what each platform states in its own help centre and terms.
The fee on top: published vs unpublished
- CandFans publishes its fan fee: a platform usage fee of 18% (varies by card brand) is added at checkout for plan renewals and single purchases (official help).
- myfans also adds a purchase fee at checkout, but the amount is not published.

Payment methods and debit cards
- CandFans: Visa, JCB and Mastercard for all payments; Visa-family prepaid widely accepted. Debit is restricted: only Minna no Ginko and Revolut debit are listed, and debit cannot be used for monthly plans. Also atone, deferred payment and AFTEE (Taiwan BNPL). BitCash not listed.
- myfans: Visa, Mastercard, JCB; debit and prepaid explicitly usable. BitCash, Paidy, atone and deferred payment also listed (the last three need a Japanese SMS number). PayPal is on neither platform's official list.
- Currency: CandFans introduced USD settlement in 2023 for overseas users; the billed amount is shown in yen (official notice, 24 Mar 2023). That notice said Mastercard was temporarily unavailable; the current payment-methods article lists Mastercard, so treat the 2023 restriction as historical. myfans shows yen and settles the equivalent in your card's currency (Terms Art. 14).
Before you can pay: phone verification
- myfans: no payment until phone verification is complete. Non-Japanese numbers: not stated.
- CandFans: help has phone-authentication troubleshooting, but no official statement that verification is required before payment, and nothing about non-Japanese numbers.
Cancellation
Both end monthly-plan access as soon as you cancel; neither offers prorated refunds. myfans also sells 3/6/12-month bundles (term rule above); CandFans' help describes monthly plans only.
Caution: CandFans' sources disagree on renewal timing — help says the same day of the following month (cancel by the day before); Terms Art. 10 say monthly charges settle on the 1st (cancel by month-end). Both wordings shown; the official sources do not resolve it.
What shows on your statement
- CandFans: help says the billing name is in the confirmation email after payment; Terms Art. 28 say processor-routed payments appear as "CANDFANS" (may not cover every payment).
- myfans: the contact form states statements deliberately show a name other than "myfans"; check yours in purchase history. The actual name is not published.
Apps and overseas use
Neither has an official app; both run in a browser. CandFans has no general overseas statement beyond USD settlement. myfans' help welcomes registration by foreign nationals. Neither publishes a VPN rule.
