MyFans First-Month Discounts and Coupons Explained

Updated 9 October 2026 · Checked against the MyFans help centre: 9 October 2026

Short answer

A first-month discount (a “campaign”) cuts the price of your first month only; from the second month you pay the plan’s normal price. You can’t get it twice on the same plan, BitCash can’t receive it, and card payments don’t get it on plans above a certain price. A label such as 初月 ¥300 お得 is the amount you save, not the price. Coupons are separate: Amex currently can’t be used with them, and a card can’t be used if the price after the coupon is under ¥100.

Many MyFans plans show a cheaper first month, and some creators hand out coupons. Both are real savings, but the rules catch people out: the discount lasts one month, you usually get it once, and some payment methods can’t use it. Here is how it works, from MyFans’ own help centre.

How to read “初月 ¥X お得”

初月 (shogetsu) means “first month”, and お得 (otoku) means “a saving” or “good value”. So 初月 ¥300 お得 reads as “save ¥300 on the first month”. It is not the plan’s price.

Creators set the discount themselves, as a percentage of up to 100% off the first month. They can also limit it to a number of people (up to 10,000) and to a period. When the period ends, the plan goes back to its normal display. So a deal you saw last week may simply have ended.

Worked example (our illustration, not a real plan): a ¥1,000-a-month plan showing 初月 ¥300 お得
MonthWhat you payWhy
First month¥700, plus MyFans’ purchase feeThe ¥300 saving applies to the first month only
Second month on¥1,000, plus the purchase feeMyFans renews at the plan’s normal price
If you cancel and rejoin later¥1,000, plus the purchase feeThe campaign won’t apply a second time on the same plan

MyFans adds a purchase fee at checkout on top of the plan price, so always check the final amount on the confirmation screen before you press 加入する (join). On our creator profiles we list the normal price and the first-month price separately for the same reason. For how plans renew month to month, see billing and renewal.

A note on rejoining. MyFans’ Japanese user article says anyone who has ever joined the plan won’t get the campaign. Its creator article gives one exception: someone who cancelled before the campaign was set up can still get it. In practice, don’t count on it: the confirmation screen tells you before you pay.

How creator coupons work

Coupons are separate from campaigns. A creator can give you a coupon with its own conditions: the discount, an expiry date, which posts or plans it covers, and how many times it can be used.

To see your coupons: log in, open Account, then the 購入・保存 (Purchased/Saved) tab, then クーポン一覧 (coupon list). Each coupon shows its conditions there.

To use one: go to the purchase screen for the post or plan. Under 使えるクーポン (coupons you can use), press 適用 (apply) on the coupon. If you have a code instead, type it into the クーポンコード (coupon code) box and press 適用. Check that the price has dropped before you complete the purchase.

RuleDetail
Payment methods that can use couponsVisa, Mastercard and JCB cards, Paidy (あと払い), deferred payment (後払い) and atone. BitCash isn’t on the list.
American ExpressCan’t currently be used with coupons. MyFans says support is planned. Its payment-methods page lists only Visa, Mastercard and JCB cards anyway.
Under ¥100 after the couponCard payment isn’t available.
Bundles (3, 6 or 12 months)Coupons can’t be used on bundled plans.
When a coupon failsIt may be expired, used up, not valid for that item, or the price after the coupon may not meet your payment method’s conditions.

MyFans itself also sometimes issues coupons, which work only with creators who have a gold badge. They’re entered as a code at checkout. MyFans warns that a coupon obtained other than through its own announcements may not be valid. It also won’t restore a coupon if the payment fails.

Some affiliate links to individual posts carry a coupon code that fills in automatically. You still have to press 適用 for the discount to apply. MyFans says profile links don’t carry these coupons. Our links go to creator profiles, so they don’t include one.

Getting the most from a deal

Our suggestions, not MyFans rules: check the confirmation screen for the campaign notice before paying; if you pay by BitCash, expect the normal price; and set a reminder before the second renewal if you only wanted to try one month. Cancel at least a day before the renewal date. Cancelling a monthly plan closes its posts straight away, so cancel near the end of the month rather than right after joining. Our cancellation guide shows the steps.

If you’re choosing between a discounted first month and a bundle, remember that coupons don’t work on bundles. Bundles are paid upfront for the whole period, with no pro-rata refund if you stop early. For an overview of tiers, free plans and bundles, see plans explained.

Quick answers

Does “初月 ¥500 お得” mean the plan costs ¥500?

No. It means you save ¥500 on the first month. The second month is charged at the plan’s normal price.

Why didn’t my first-month discount apply?

You may have joined that plan before, you may be paying with BitCash, the plan may be above the price where card payments qualify, or the campaign may have ended or reached its limit of people. The confirmation screen shows a notice if the campaign can’t be applied.

Can I use a coupon with an American Express card?

Not at the moment. MyFans’ coupon article says Amex can’t currently be used with coupons and that support is planned.

Can I pay for a coupon purchase with BitCash?

BitCash isn’t among the payment methods MyFans lists for coupons. See paying without a credit card for what BitCash covers.
